After the Festival

7th September 2014. The tents and caravans have gone, the grass has been cut, and some seed spread in the bare patches to encourage regrowth. In previous years the site has been returfed, but we understand that that is not a possibility this year because of the extensive drainage work carried out in the spring. The drainage work cost us residents of Edinburgh over £100,000 we are told. Seeding is less expensive than putting down new turf, so the Festival shows, who have to pay to make good the ground, appear to save money at the expense of local residents. We haven't yet seen the actual figures.
